The Lakeview Lands next step

To introduce the start of Lakeview Village, a new development on the lands of the former Lakeview Generating Station, Ontario Finance minister, and area MPP Charles Sousa, centre, presented “torches” to Rea Lingo, president, Lakeview Ratepayers Association, Mayor Bonnie Crombie, Lee Tovey, widow of the late councillor Jim Tovey, and John Danahy, a landscape architect from the University of Toronto. The candles in the jars were symbolic of “carrying the torch” of the vision of Jim Tovey, who was instrumental in the launch of the development. April 10, 2018. – Bryon Johnson/Metroland

In March, Ontario Power Generation sold the Lakeview property for $275 million to LCPL. The terms of the sale require 27 hectares of waterfront land be remediated and transferred to the City of Mississauga.

In terms of next steps, Mazzocco said LCPL will be holding a series of community consultations — with the first taking place Wednesday, April 18, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Waterside Inn, 10 Stavebank Rd. For more information visit: www.lakeviewcommunitypartners.com.

Construction of Lakeview Village is expected to begin in 2020.
